Submitted by the Event OrganizerGood Prospect Community ArtFor one night, four blocks of Mission Street become a walking feast. A Mission Bernal Tasting takes you from Cortland Avenue to 29th Street with a taste waiting at every stop: Nepali, Persian, Nicaraguan, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, Greek, Indian and Italian, plus local pizza, beer, cider and Thai tea. Ten countries in four blocks, and more than twenty restaurants and bars taking part. One ticket covers the whole route. You walk at your own pace, in any order, from 5 to 8 pm. Check in any time from 5 pm at The Front Porch, 65 29th Street, and pick up a map. This is a neighborhood fundraiser, not a promoter’s event. Every dollar goes to a permanent mosaic by Colette Crutcher, the artist behind the 16th Avenue Tiled Steps, on the long-tagged retaining walls at Cortland and Prospect. More than 120 neighbors made tiles for it by hand at free workshops, and a row of tiles along the base of the mural portrays the small businesses of both corridors. The two previous Taste of Bernal events on Cortland Avenue sold out at 300 tickets. This is the first one on Mission Street. Tickets: $65 general admission, $40 for young people and seasoned adults. Wear comfortable shoes and come hungry.
