On Sunday, July 26, the Roxie Theater and the GLBT Historical Society celebrate ADA Day with a double feature and a live panel. First comes Sign 504 Now!, a 30-minute documentary sourced from our archives that returns to 1977, when more than 150 disabled activists occupied the San Francisco Federal Office Building for 26 days — the longest nonviolent occupation of a federal building in U.S. history. Then comes Vivien's Wild Ride, a feature-length documentary about Bay Area film editor Vivien Hillgrove as she loses her sight to macular degeneration and grapples with memory, identity, and artistic survival. Between the films, a panel discussion moderated by Crip Camp director Jim LeBrecht brings together Hillgrove, Dr. Victor Santiago Pineda, and Dr. Kevin Mintz. LEARN MORE + GET TICKETS Both films are open-captioned. Vivien's Wild Ride offers audio description on request, and ASL interpretation will be provided for the introductory comments and the panel discussion. Questions?
