AI for the Rest of Us: A no-jargon, hands-on workshop for people who feel left behind by AI. Understand what it actually does, decide what stays human, and leave with your first real use.
You've been meaning to figure out AI. Everyone around you seems to have. You opened one of the tools once, didn't know what to type, and closed it. Or you know roughly what it can do and something in you doesn't like it — and nobody has given you a way to think about that either.
This workshop is for people who feel behind and are done feeling that way. No technical background. No coding. No one making you feel stupid for asking.
We don't start with tools. We start with you. Where do you actually stand with AI — what are you afraid of, specifically? What would you never hand over, even if a machine did it better? What have you already handed over without deciding to? You'll write your own line in one sentence, and it becomes your filter for everything that follows. Being "behind" isn't a personal failure. It's what happens when a big change moves faster than the conversation about it. So we have the conversation first.
Then a plain-language map. What these tools actually do, what they get wrong, what they cost, who's building them and why. Fifteen minutes, no jargon — just enough to stop guessing.
Then you do it. You bring one real thing from your work or business — the email you keep putting off, the contract you need to understand, the week you can't plan, the listing you haven't written — and you get it done, with help in the room, checking it against your own line. Small business owners and independent professionals work alongside each other. Nobody demos. Everybody does.
You leave with your first real use of AI, one thing you've decided to keep human, and one person from the room to check in with. On your terms, not out of panic.
Three pain points
Everyone else seems to get AI, and I feel behind — and a bit embarrassed to ask basic questions.
I don't know what's real, what's hype, or whether I should even want this in my work or life.
I run a small business or work for myself, and I can't tell where AI would actually help and where it would quietly take something I care about.
Participants leave with
A clear, plain-language picture of what AI does and doesn't do — enough to stop guessing.
Their own line: what they'll hand over, what stays human, and why.
One real task done with AI in the room, and a way to do it again next week.
One person to check in with, so this doesn't stay a one-time thing.
Who it's for
Non-technical people who feel left behind by AI. Small business owners, independent professionals, and anyone whose work is changing around them without asking. No technical background needed. Not for people who want an advanced tools tutorial or a debate about whether AI is good or bad.
What to bring
A laptop or phone, and one real thing you've been avoiding or struggling with in your work or business. That's it.
What happens in the room
Guided reflection and pair conversation to find where you stand, a short plain-language briefing, and a hands-on hour where you pick one real task and do it with support. Phones and laptops out for the doing; away for the rest.
This event is hosted at the Frontier Tower:
We are transforming a 16-floor tower in San Francisco into a self-governed vertical village—a hub for frontier technologies and creative arts. Tier-one labs presenting AI, Ethereum, biotech, neuroscience, longevity, robotics, makerspace, human flourishing, and arts & music. These floors will house innovators and creators pushing the boundaries of human potential in a post-AI-singularity world.
