The Commons: Third Space (Hayes Valley) Event Link When's the last time you shared a meal with someone on your block? For most of us in SF, the honest answer is "never" — we have friends across the city and strangers across the hall. This is a gathering for anyone who wants that to change. Whether you just want to be on waving terms with your neighbors or you dream of a block that raises kids and tends elders together, please come. No experience needed — curiosity about the people you live near is the whole prerequisite. What we'll do: share what drew us here, trade what we've each tried (the wins and the awkward failures), and leave with one small experiment to run on our own street — a dinner, a stoop ritual, a shared project. Where this could go: I'm inspired by Mitra Martin's writing (mitramartin.substack.com) on neighborhoods as designed "containers" — her finding is that lasting community gets built through tiny, repeated instances (a weekly dinner, a festival, a pizza oven), not grand plans. If there's energy, this becomes a recurring circle that runs experiments between sessions and documents what actually works — a playbook we share with the broader community. location provided by event source: "550 Laguna St, San Francisco" ―――――――――― SF Stuff To Do
