He was building things in his garage when he ran into the same problem over and over: local shops didn’t want small orders, and getting a quote could take longer than making the part. So he started SendCutSend. Today, you can upload a design, see a price immediately, and order anything from a single prototype to a production run. The company has shipped more than 30 million parts to over 300,000 customers. After building it largely without venture funding, Jim raised $110 million this year from Sequoia, Paradigm, and the Collison brothers.
