©Marco Flavio/Out There WatercolorsFree painting gathering in the Presidio. This first one is open to all, just come. Sign up at Painters Unite to get the location for every one after. Painters Unite is a free gathering for anyone who wants to slow down and paint outdoors, together. No class, no pressure, nothing for sale. I’m Marco Flavio, a watercolor teacher here in the city. I teach with the San Francisco Botanical Garden, Sharon Art Studio, and SFMOMA, and my classes usually sell out. I’m starting this because so many people have told me they want more time to paint and to be around others, and that shouldn’t cost anything. I’ll be painting right alongside you, same as everyone. We meet Saturday August 8th, 10AM to 12, at the Presidio Tunnel Tops in front of the Presidio Visitors Center. Each time I bring a few small challenges, different ways of seeing what’s in front of us, like working only in negative space, or painting with just three colors. Take one as far as you like, or ignore them and just paint. You don’t need any experience. A pencil and some curiosity is plenty. Bring a sketchbook and something to draw or paint with. If you have a watercolor kit, bring it. A folding or camping chair is welcome, or a mat or blanket to sit on, the grass can be dewy in the morning. Anything that makes it comfortable to settle in for a couple of hours. If you have nothing, come anyway. → Sign up at Painters Unite and I’ll send you the location before every future gathering. Disclaimer: Please double check event information with the event organizer as events can be canceled, details can change after they are added to our calendar, and errors do occur.
