Up from LA, Diana Hong headlines a lineup built for sharp storytelling, queer absurdity, trans joy, and the kind of bar-show electricity that makes a Wednesday at the Eagle worth planning around. Adam Strawbridge, Gold E. West, and Woodlief McCabe round out the bill, with Geulah Finman guest-hosting the night. Safe Words exists to create safe spaces for queer audiences and accelerate the careers of queer comedians.Your investment of a VIP or Pay What You Can General Admission ticket increases performer pay, let’s us bring in more of the community, and broaden our impact. This show is built for people who want sharp stand-up in a bar where queer audiences are actually at the center. People who want to uplift queer voices (allies) are warmly welcome too – just be sure to bring cash for tips! Expect a show with range: dry intelligence, intimate storytelling, quick left turns, and comics with genuinely distinct points of view rather than a showcase interchangeable cis-het dudes making the same jokes about… us – usually. Diana Hong She/Her Diana is a Korean American lesbian comic whose grounded presence and calm delivery catch audiences off guard in the best way. Her storytelling is smart, sincere, and often surprisingly emotional. She tackles grief, identity, and cultural absurdities with heart and a deadpan edge that makes you laugh first and think later. Her comedy has been featured on Netflix is a Joke Radio, SF Sketchfest, Fuse TV, and she is a regular at Cobb’s Comedy Club and San Francisco Punch Line. If you want the whole family to laugh, and your grandma to start using the right pronouns, then go for the Gold! (My only credits are the “Trans Voices Showcase” at STRUT, the Donut Worry Just Laugh showcase, and the Safe Words’ Castro Comedy Cabaret.)
