Submitted by the Event OrganizerInvisible Atlas — From Hiroshima and Nagasaki to Fukushima: The Invisible Threat of Nuclear Contamination October 23–25, 2026 | Dance Mission Theater, San Francisco Invisible Atlas, is a powerful multimedia dance performance exploring the invisible dangers of nuclear contamination and their lasting impact on humanity and the environment. Inspired by the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Fukushima nuclear meltdown, and ongoing concerns about radioactive waste in the San Francisco Bay Area, this performance connects historical tragedies with environmental challenges we face today. Combining Butoh, contemporary dance, poetry, theatrical performance, immersive film projections, and live Japanese Shakuhachi and Taiko music, Invisible Atlas creates an emotionally compelling theatrical experience. Through movement, sound, and visual storytelling, the performance invites audiences to reflect on the invisible consequences of nuclear history, our shared responsibility, and the future we want to create.
