!Laloismo! A Poetic and Musical Reimagining of the Lyrics of Lalo Guerrero

Tonight four pochos from different corners and dimensions of Aztlan come together for a poetic and rasquache reimagining of the lyrics of foundational Mexican American singer songwriter Lalo Guerrero. Featuring pendejadas, poetics, y musica from Marisol Medina-Cadena, Louis “El Panadero” Gutierrez, soledad con carne, and Josiah Flores. MC’d by the Pocho poeta Josiah Luis Alderete. This evento is part of the Lalo Guerrero Legacy Festival happening at the Freight and Salvage on November 6th and 7th and is also a PBS(Pocho Broadcasting Company) production. Louis  “El Panadero” Gutierrez is a 24th street organic intellectual, Mission poet, and neighborhood archivist. His familia has owned the iconic La Reyna Bakery for over 40 years. Marisol Medina-Cadena is a fourth generation Californian; Bay Area on her mom’s side and LA County on her pop’s side. She is a San Francisco based comedian and storyteller by way of the dirty D, aka Pasadena, California. When she's not being a sad clown she's doing boring things like research and collecting intel of all things pochismo and San Pancho. As a proud member of (PBS) the Pocho Broadcast Service, she takes her duty very seriously to make audiences he-he and ha-ha. soledad con carne is an intergalactic Chicanx punk poet. They are a poet of the root that cracks the concrete on occupied Fernandeño-Tataviam Land: otherwise known as the San Fernando Valley. Part-time poet turned melodic storyteller, Chicano singer/songwriter Josiah Flores puts music to the parts of life most tend to hide from. From the foothills of south San Jose to the foggy avenues of San Francisco, he calls the Bay Area his home. Influenced by the likes of Stoney Edwards, Freddy Fender, and Willie Dunn, if one were to sit in a dimly-lit corner of their local watering hole, hunched over a beer, they would find Josiah’s songs sitting down next to them.
