Through her comedic approach to serious issues, activist work against fatphobia, and personal sincerity, Lindy West has become an inspiration to her fans. West is the author of the best-selling memoir Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman, which was also adapted by Hulu with West as an executive producer. Her writing has appeared in the The New York Times, The Guardian, Cosmopolitan, Jezebel, and others. In 2015, she co-founded Shout Your Abortion, a campaign to promote people sharing their abortion experiences. In West’s new memoir Adult Braces: Driving Myself Sane, she tells the story of her hilarious road trip, and in the process unpacks her journey to fame, through struggles with depression, rethinking her traditional marriage, and the rediscovery of who she wants to be.
