Join us at Manny’s for a Death Cafe — a relaxed, agenda-free conversation about death and dying over tea and cake. No experts, no lectures.
It’s not a grief support group or a counseling session — there’s no agenda, no theme, and no push toward any particular conclusion. The goal is simply to increase awareness of death so we can make the most of the time we have.
The format was developed in the UK in 2011 and has since spread to 97 countries, with over 24,000 Death Cafes held worldwide. Each one is offered on a not-for-profit basis, in a respectful and confidential space, with refreshments
This Death Cafe will be facilitated by Yael Galinson, death doula, Jewish death educator, and board member of Sinai Memorial.
Who is Sinai Memorial?
Sinai Memorial believes that the Jewish practices and rituals surrounding death add uniquely powerful meaning and points of connection. That’s why, every day, we offer the flexibility needed to serve Jewish people of all denominations, traditions, and means in the Bay Area with kindness and respect.
