Martin Luther McCoy at Keys Jazz Bistro features the San Francisco–born singer, guitarist, songwriter, producer, actor, and former SFJAZZ Collective vocalist, performing his self-defined “Rebel Soul” music. Raised on church hymns, Funk, Soul, R&B, Hip-Hop, and Rock, McCoy’s raspy tenor, dynamic guitar playing, and socially conscious writing create a border-crossing sound informed by Prince, Stevie Wonder, Sly Stone, Bob Marley, Joni Mitchell, D’Angelo, and Kendrick Lamar. He has toured with The Roots, performed with artists including Jill Scott, Dave Matthews, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and appeared as “JoJo” in Julie Taymor’s Across the Universe; his Keys appearance celebrates his 2026 double-vinyl release Welcome Back Love.
