Nilo Ayele

Salvador, Bahia–born vocalist and percussionist Nilo Ayele brings his ensemble, The NDL Band (Namorados da Lua), to The Riptide in the Outer Sunset. Ayele leads the group with lead vocals and traditional Brazilian percussion, drawing directly from the Afro-Brazilian musical traditions of northeastern Brazil. The performance blends syncopated samba-reggae grooves, up-tempo axé, forró, and roots reggae, driven by layered hand percussion, guitar, bass, and call-and-response vocal arrangements suited to the oceanfront neighborhood venue.
