🌉 Some of America's most surprising firsts happened in San Francisco. Long before Silicon Valley, San Francisco was shaping the world in unexpected ways. The city's streets hold the stories behind everything from the martini and the first underground parking garage to the founding of the United Nations and the birth of topless dancing. Yet most of these stories are hiding in plain sight. In this lecture, Hannah Blazei, journalist, KPIX News editor, and creator of Good Stories San Francisco, uncovers the stories behind some of San Francisco's most iconic things. She brings to life the people, moments, and unlikely events that helped make San Francisco unlike anywhere else in the world. One story is still unwritten... because you'll choose it! Before the lecture, we'll ask our community what San Francisco story they'd like to hear about. It could be a historic event, an iconic landmark, a neighborhood mystery, or anything else that makes this city special. The comment with the most likes across our social media will become Hannah's final story of the evening. Voting is officially open!
