KALWSee short films by Sudanese filmmakers at this screening & fundraiser, featuring special guest Hana Baba from KALW’s Solidarity Cinema Come to KALW on Friday, September 25 at 8p for this month’s installment of Solidarity Cinema. We’re joined by Hana Baba for a night of Sudanese film with four short films. Al-Sit (dir. Suzannah Mirghani, 2020) [20 min] The ‘Spider-Man’ of Sudan (dir. Rafa Renas & Phil Cox, 2022) [19 min] MY FIRST SHORT SUDANESE FILM (UNTITLED) (dir. Osman Abdelwahab, 2025) [1 min] Bougainvillea (dir. Yasir Faiz, 2025) [17 min] Tickets are available on a sliding scale of $5–$25 (NOTAFLOF), with proceeds going to mutual aid efforts in the Sudan and KALW Public Media. This is a masks encouraged event and we will be providing masks at the door for anyone who needs it. The venue is wheelchair accessible. By providing free access to radical cinema and supporting grassroots screenings, the project helps organizers, educators, and communities use film as a tool for learning, collective action, and social change.   Come early to see Made in this Place: Bay Area Artists In Their Own Words, a new multimedia exhibition from Art is Awesome and KALW Public Media, in partnership with Ingleside Gallery, spotlighting 15 local artists. Through artwork and recorded conversations, visitors are invited to engage with local artists as neighbors, discovering the ideas, experiences, and values that shape their work.
