The Kuumba Experience

The Kuumba Experience at Black Cat brings a rhythm-forward, improvisation-driven set to San Francisco for a two-night residency, its name drawn from the principle of Kuumba — to create, to leave something more beautiful behind. Drums, keys, bass, guitar, and vocals move as one across jazz, R&B, funk, soul, and fusion, opening into a fluid, in-the-moment set built around real-time creation. The band is led by producer and drummer Jordan McGowan and musical director/keyboardist Jamie Hawkins, with bassist Vernon Hall, lead vocalist Skylar, guitarist Jeriko Blaq, and creative director Wayne Jackson.
