About Charles Wang:Charles Wang, MD is a product executive and advisor within the Heart Failure division at Abbott, and an entrepreneur-in-residence at Portmanteau Capital (a non-profit investment fund financing deep tech companies). Previously, as Senior Director of Product & Innovation at Abbott Diabetes Care, he led the product and design organization, helping to build and evolve the Libre continuous glucose monitor franchise ($8B revenue run rate for 2026). Prior to that, he was a Clinical Product Specialist at Apple, Director of Product Management at Johnson & Johnson, and Co-Founder and COO at Lumo Bodytech, among other roles. At Lumo, he led product strategy and execution, from concept through commercialization (both hardware & software), for 3 consumer products (Lumo Lift, Lumo Run, and Lumo Back) as well as the technology platform (used by customers such as Puma). He also ran the marketing and operations teams and was very involved in all fundraising and business development efforts. Charles holds a BS from UC San Diego, an MD from New York University, and completed psychiatry residency training at Yale University. During medical practice, Charles decided to pursue his entrepreneurial dreams, which led him to get an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business before joining a molecular diagnostics startup (Veracyte) and then starting a consumer health company (Lumo).
