Bay Area jazz fusion powerhouse Wampa lands at Keys Jazz Bistro with an electrifying concept that reimagines John Williams’s iconic Star Wars themes as high-octane electro-funk. Channeling the sonic spirit of Herbie Hancock’s Headhunters, Vangelis, and Chick Corea, the quartet features alto saxophonist and EWI player Jesse Levit running winds through textured effect chains, keyboardist Adam Shulman layering vintage synths, bassist Jason Muscat holding down heavy grooves, and drummer Jeff Marrs driving the pocket. Far from a novelty tribute, the ensemble delivers intricate, serious musicianship packed with fiery improvisation, cinematic synth layers, and danceable funk rhythms.
