Bateria Batuki and Yerba Buena Gardens FestivalYerba Buena Gardens to Host World Cup Final Watch Party July 19, 11am-4pm with a Latino Flair Official Watch Party Takes Over the Gardens’ Great Lawn with Viewing on a Giant Screen, Picnicking, DJs and Live Music Presented by Yerba Buena Gardens Festival in Partnership with CANA, Carnaval San Francisco, KALW Music and SF Bay Area Host Committee Yerba Buena Gardens in San Francisco’s Yerba Buena neighborhood will host a free FIFA World Cup Final watch party at its Great Lawn Sunday, July 19 from 11am-4pm with a decidedly Latino flair. Take in all the soccer action on a giant screen, along with Latin music by Bateria Batuki, samba reggae by Batalá San Francisco and selections by KALW DJ Marcus Rosario. The event is presented by Yerba Buena Gardens Festival in partnership with CANA, Carnaval San Francisco, KALW Music and SF Bay Area Host Committee. It is supported by Yerba Buena Partnership, Mayor Daniel Lurie, San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development, and Metreon. RSVP for the free event. Among the performers, Bateria Batuki is a dynamic percussion, dance and vocal ensemble that’s played a vibrant role on San Francisco’s Latin music scene in recent years. Batalá San Francisco is a community band that plays samba reggae, an Afro-Brazilian genre of music developed in Bahia, Brazil. Marcus Aurelius Rosario, a.k.a. Mawkus, KALW radio host, producer and educator, will be the event DJ. Yerba Buena Gardens Great Lawn is the civic centerpiece of the Yerba Buena neighborhood, the city’s downtown arts and entertainment destination, that is steps from SFMOMA, Metreon, Yerba Buena Lane dining, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial with its majestic waterfall. The site is easily accessible by all modes of local and regional public transportation.
